ゲベレインで発見された紀元前3351～3017年の男女のミイラ2体からタトゥーが発見されています。男性の右上腕部にはバーバリーシープとオーロックスが、女性の右肩には4つの「S」字型、さらに右上腕部には「L」字型の木の棒と見られるタトゥーが確認されています。
